We believe that cybersecurity and corporate responsibility are intertwined, and to help keep our customers and society secure, we must continue to integrate <span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">environmental, social and governance (ESG)<\/span> initiatives into our culture and operations.<\/p>\n<p>Nikesh Arora, chief executive officer and Chairman, Palo Alto Networks, said:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>As a company built on trust, it is imperative that we continue to be a leader in responsible business practices. Through science-based climate action, investing in our global workforce and communities, and operating with integrity, we are helping protect our digital way of life.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Today, we released our <a href=\"https:\/\/www.paloaltonetworks.com\/content\/dam\/pan\/en_US\/assets\/pdf\/corporate\/panw-fy23-esg-report.pdf\">fiscal 2023 Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) Report<\/a> to share the progress we\u2019ve made in the last year. Below are some highlights of what we at Palo Alto Networks are doing:<\/p>\n<h4><a id=\"post-316876-_acrpc3otysrp\"><\/a>Taking a Data-Driven Approach to Climate Action<\/h4>\n<ul>\n<li>Science-based targets (SBTs) were validated by the globally recognized Science-Based Targets Initiative (SBTi), aligned to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) guidance.<\/li>\n<li>Partnered with our local utility to procure 100% renewable electricity to power our Santa Clara, CA headquarters.<\/li>\n<li>Made the 2022 CDP A-List and we were recognized as a CDP 2022 Supplier Engagement Leader for our efforts to engage suppliers on environmental sustainability.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h4><a id=\"post-316876-_v5w1v1r9wy2z\"><\/a>Investing in Our Global Workforce and Communities \u2014 Putting People First<\/h4>\n<ul>\n<li>Introduced Global Hiring Committees with a focus on elevating hiring standards and ensuring the recruitment of diverse talent. The committee creates quality and equity throughout the hiring process.<\/li>\n<li>Took California\u2019s Equal Pay Pledge to reduce unconscious bias and structural barriers, promoting best practices aimed at closing the pay gap and promoting fundamental equity for employees.<\/li>\n<li>Engaged 2,400+ academic institutions and nonprofits through our Palo Alto Networks Cybersecurity Academy program to prepare young professionals for careers in cybersecurity.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h4><a id=\"post-316876-_372eyg3bslfz\"><\/a>Operating with Integrity \u2014 Commitment at the Highest Levels<\/h4>\n<ul>\n<li>50% of the company\u2019s board directors are diverse, based on directors\u2019 gender, race, ethnicity or nationality.<\/li>\n<li>80% of the company\u2019s board directors are independent.<\/li>\n<li>Launched a new \u201cEthics and Compliance\u201d section on our public website to increase the visibility of our ethics and compliance policies, including our Ethics Helpline and expectations around integrity in how we do business around the globe.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Aimee Hoyt, chief people officer of Palo Alto Networks, said:<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 120px;\"><em>\u201cBuilding an employee-centric culture is a key value at Palo Alto Networks \u2013 we\u2019re honored to have been recognized with more than 40 employer awards during fiscal 2023.
